What is a medical daycare center (PPEC)?
As a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center, we provide ongoing medical care in an outpatient setting for Medicaid-eligible children from birth to age 21 with medically complex conditions. Our educators and staff are trained to design and implement curriculum that meets the needs of a diverse group of young learners and supports their social emotional growth at every step.
Does this service cost me anything?
No, our services are completely covered by Medicaid, with no out-of-pocket costs for families.
Can you provide transportation?
Yes, we can arrange transportation for your child through their Medicaid insurance.
Can I enroll my child if I reside outside of Pennsylvania?
No, you must be a resident of Pennsylvania to enroll your child in our services.
Which parts of Pennsylvania do you service?
We currently serve residents of Delaware County, PA.
How do I qualify for your services?
Your child must be enrolled in Medicaid and have a medical condition that requires consistent nursing support.

PPEC Assistant
Duties:
  • Assist the nurse in providing daily care according to the Plan of Care
  • Promote an engaging environment where children can learn and develop
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Participate as a vital member of our multidisciplinary team
  • Assistance with changing, transferring, and repositioning children
  • Assistance with meal preparation
Requirements
  • Have 1 year experience in a pediatric care setting
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background check
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Registered Nurse RN (Full Time/Part Time)
As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will engage with the children in our care by providing exceptional pediatric care that supports not just the health, but also the joyful growth of every child we serve.

Duties:
  • Assists in carrying out rehabilitation programming and activities for PPEC patients such as development of social skills, development of daily living skills.
  • Provides personal care services to patients including oral hygiene, bathing and hair care as needed, nail care, diapering and dressing.
  • Provides bed care to patients, repositioning, ambulating and assisting with elimination needs. Moving to and from wheelchairs, etc.
  • Administers medications to patients orally, intra-, or via feeding tube subcutaneously.
  • Monitors effects of medications, records medication given and patients’ reactions.
  • Observes and monitors movement and activities of patients in the PPEC.
  • Assists/reviews MAR monthly and as needed to ensure accuracy.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a pediatric care setting, preferably with patients that are medically complex
  • Valid Pennsylvania RN License
  • CPR certification required
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background check
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will engage with the children in our care by providing exceptional pediatric care that supports not just the health, but also the joyful growth of every child we serve.

Duties:
  • Administers medications to patients orally, intra-, or subcutaneously
  • Monitors effects of medications, records medication given and patient’s reactions
  • Observes and monitors movement and activities of patients in the PPEC
  • Assists/reviews MAR monthly and as needed to ensure accuracy
  • Writes daily progress notes, nursing notes and reports of unusual incidents
  • Recognizes and promptly reports condition changes to supervisor

Requirements:

  • Experience in a pediatric care setting, preferably with patients that are medically complex

Certified Child Life Specialist (Full- Time)
As a Child Life Specialist, you will engage with the children in our care by providing exceptional pediatric care that supports not just the health, but also the joyful growth of every child we serve.

Duties:
  • Plan, develop, and provide Child Life programming for the PPEC.
  • Educate, and acts as a resource for, health care professionals regarding the psychosocial issues of pediatric health care, and the impact of illness on patients and their families.
  • Plan and ensure that individuals regularly participate in PPEC activities.
  • Devise a monthly activity schedule.
  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing holiday and special events at the PPEC.
  • Beautify the PPEC to create a home-like environment, appropriately decorated, where therapeutic equipment is accessible, visually soothing/stimulating and educationally supportive environment.
  • Coordinate developmental, therapeutic and adaptive play/recreation/music experience.
  • Develop a working relationship with DME providers, PT, OT and speech therapists.
  • Assist Nursing Staff as needed
Requirements:
  • Must have completed Child Life Internship under the direct supervision of Certified Child Life Specialist
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Education, Psychology or other healthcare related fields.
  • CPR certification required
  • Professional Child Life Certification
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background check
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
